Some grand openings really live up to the name. Case in point: the opening of TriMet’s MAX Orange Line and Tilikum Crossing bridge. The transit agency’s achievement was monumental: a new light rail line and the first new bridge to span Portland’s Willamette River in 40 years.
To put the limelight on the new MAX Orange Line, we created a grand opening theme, a graphic approach, and a host of creative elements (for ads, posters, signage, social media, a custom Pendleton blanket design, etc.) to get everyone in the region on board. We also worked with TriMet to develop a sponsorship brochure to inspire community partners to support the events leading up to and including the grand opening celebration. Then kept the excitement rolling with “Catch the Orange” transit ads featuring local pro athletes.
The opening was, indeed, grand. Catch the Orange caught the attention of the Portland community, generating excitement, pride and some pretty impressive results:
It was a happy ending. And the beginning of new connections and new possibilities for our community.
